Where are you from originally? Connecticut
How long have you been working in Boston? 2.5 years
Why do you stay? I’m based down the road in the hinterland woods of Connecticut, midday between Boston and NYC, but Boston is one of my theatre homes. I am deeply ingrained in the Boston theatre scene because of the people!! They offer community, talent, creativity, intelligence, dedication, fun, adventurous spirits, and so much more.
What’s your earliest theatre memory? Seeing a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a barn.
What’s your first theatre memory in Boston? 7 years old – a scary eye operation – my mom taking me to a play beforehand to calm and entrance me.
What was your first job in theatre? The role of the Nurse in a musical called Dracula Baby.
What’s the best meal you’ve ever had before a show? Is there anything ever better than really good brick-oven pizza with cast and crew before, during, and after a show?
What’s your favorite rehearsal snack? M&Ms
Do you eat before you go on stage or do you wait until after your performance to eat? As a playwright, it is a rare occasion for me to tread the boards. But, when I do venture forth in great character roles, I eat after….ditto that for watching one of my shows performed – after.
If you could change one thing about theater, what would it be? More female playwrights seeing their works produced.
What kind of theater excites you? All kinds!
What advice do you have for artists just starting out? For playwrights, find a good writers’ group with peer’s you can respect. Get your butt in the chair and write! Collaborate with other theatre artists! Be nice!
